What is a Mucocele?
A mucocele (also called a mucous retention cyst or mucous extravasation cyst) is a smooth, dome-shaped, bluish or translucent swelling inside the mouth. It is caused by trauma to a minor salivary gland duct, leading to mucus accumulation. It is painless but can be bothersome and may rupture and recur.
